Choose the intended EAN format
EAN-13 uses twelve data digits and one check digit; EAN-8 uses seven data digits and one check digit. Enter the data digits alone to let the library calculate the final digit, or enter the complete number to validate it. Preserve leading zeroes by treating the number as text.
Read the check digit correctly
Starting from the rightmost data digit, alternate weights of three and one, sum the products, and choose the final digit that makes the total divisible by ten. For example, 590123412345 produces 5901234123457. A mistyped complete check digit is rejected instead of silently changed.
Check registration and print
A mathematically valid barcode does not grant a registered identifier. Use numbers allocated to your product through the appropriate GS1 process when required by your retailer. Scan the exported image and confirm the full digits. The generated image is an aid for layout, not certification of retail print quality.
